In order to provide quality assurance and production personnel with
faster and more accurate coating thickness and film weight results,
whether in the R&D center, QA lab or production work station,
Sensory now offers innovative SpecMetrix® Lab and QA coating measurement
systems. These manual and semi-automated offerings come with a variety
of test fixture options and provide an unprecedented ability to provide
immediate coating quality results – in numeric or graphic form - for
thin film thickness and most other coating quality requirements. As a
forensic tool, it is unmatched in its ability to identify and quantify
the quality of coating and film thickness in problem areas.
SpecMetrix® Mobile coating and film weight measurement systems
As a supplement to a plant's existing production and QA processes,
SpecMetrix Mobile systems are a cost effective way to bring non-contact
single point or scanned measurement of wet or dry film thickness and
product finishes directly to metal sheet production and coating lines.
They are specifically designed for flat sheet and tin plate coating
applications. These proven and flexible offerings take wet or dry film
weight measurements in a more accurate and timely manner than strand or
capacitance gauges. The Mobile system is readily transportable
for ease of use between coating lines in a plant and includes a printer
for end-of run QA documentation. Film weight and coating thickness
data can also be easily removed via USB or directly entered into the
plant SPC system, as required.
SpecMetrix ACS and Automated film weight measurement systems
For metal container manufacturers and other plants that wish to
streamline their time-consuming manual inspection methods, SpecMetrix
systems offer a variety of QA and production proven tools of cost-saving
and productivity benefit. The expanding line of SpecMetrix ACS systems
are the most cost-effective way to bring non-contact single can film
thickness measurements to food or beverage container plants. They are
designed to replace traditional and less precise handheld capacitance
gauges that require direct operator inputs and data entry. With the
improved precision of non-contact ACS container measurement systems,
production and QA team members can better assess spray gun and roller
performance issues, or simply speed up their can measurement processes.
For those container manufacturers that could benefit from the direct
automated inspection of the inside spray and over-varnish applied to
their products, new Automated ACS systems are now available for rapid
mechanical or robotic automation of can plant film weight measurement
functions. These systems allow for manual loading from multiple
conveyers, or can be upgraded to incorporate direct line-fed options for
fully automated can loading - requiring no operator interaction. The
integrated color-dot identification system enables plant personnel
to immediately identify production issues with individual spray guns.
The resultant thickness data is automatically saved for review and may
be uploaded into the plant SPC system, as required.
SpecMetrix® In-line coating and film weight measurement systems
SpecMetrix® In-line measurement systems - powered by proprietary
software controls - deliver continuous and real-time thickness
measurement data for one or more coating or film layers and provide
real-time process control and quality assurance to manufacturing and QA
teams. This data can assist operators with immediate feedback on coating
quality while providing plant management with direct quality results
without any operator involvement. More timely determination of issues
with coils, rolls, products or sheets that should be removed or altered
is assured. Based on plant need, the system can also send signals to
halt or modify the production process in order to avoid spoilage or
subsequent rework costs. The non-contact measurement capabilities of the
SpecMetrix® systems also preclude the need for creating manual test
samples or performing time consuming destructive testing.
